Tender and flavorful slow-cooked pulled pork with a tangy BBQ sauce.

Ingredients:

  • pork shoulder - 1.8 kilograms (4 pounds)
  • onion, diced - 1 onion (1 onion)
  • garlic cloves, minced - 4 cloves (4 cloves)
  • BBQ sauce - 480 milliliters (2 cups)
  • apple cider vinegar - 60 milliliters (0.25 cup)
  • brown sugar - 25 grams (2 tablespoons)
  • smoked paprika - 7 grams (1 tablespoon)
  • cumin - 2 grams (1 teaspoon)
  • salt - 5 grams (1 teaspoon)
  • black pepper - 1.5 grams (0.5 teaspoon)

Instructions:

  1. Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the diced onion, minced garlic, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder, making sure it is evenly coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks, discarding any excess fat.
  6. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce.
  7. Serve the pulled pork on burger buns, tacos, or alongside coleslaw and baked beans.

Notes:

For a spicier version, add a diced jalapeƱo or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce mixture.
