A sweet and smoky sauce perfect for grilling or as a condiment.

Ingredients:

  • ketchup - 240 grams (1 cup)
  • brown sugar - 100 grams (0.5 cup)
  • apple cider vinegar - 30 milliliters (2 tablespoons)
  • Worcestershire sauce - 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon)
  • smoked paprika - 2 grams (1 teaspoon)
  • garlic powder - 1.5 grams (0.5 teaspoon)
  • onion powder - 1.5 grams (0.5 teaspoon)
  • salt - 1.5 grams (0.25 teaspoon)
  • black pepper - 0.5 gram (0.125 teaspoon)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  5. Use the BBQ sauce immediately or let it cool and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes:

For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to taste.
