Chicken Parmesan

A classic Italian dish featuring breaded chicken breast topped with tomato sauce and melted cheese.
Ingredients:
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts - 4 breasts (4 breasts)
- all-purpose flour - 120 grams (1 cup)
- large eggs, beaten - 2 eggs (2 eggs)
- breadcrumbs - 200 grams (2 cups)
- grated Parmesan cheese - 100 grams (1 cup)
- olive oil - 60 milliliters (0.25 cup)
- marinara sauce - 680 grams (24 ounces)
- mozzarella cheese, shredded - 200 grams (2 cups)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness and season them with salt and pepper.
- Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
- Dredge the chicken breasts first in the flour, then dip them in the beaten eggs, and finally coat them with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the breaded chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish and cover with the marinara sauce.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve the chicken parmesan hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes:
You can also use panko breadcrumbs for an extra crispy coating.
