A vibrant and flavorful sauce made with fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients:

  • fresh basil leaves - 50 grams (2 cups)
  • garlic cloves - 2 cloves (2 cloves)
  • pine nuts - 30 grams (0.25 cup)
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 50 grams (0.5 cup)
  • extra-virgin olive oil - 120 milliliters (0.5 cup)
  • salt - 1.5 grams (0.25 teaspoon)
  • black pepper - 0.5 gram (0.125 teaspoon)

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine the basil leaves, garlic cloves, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pulse the ingredients until they are finely chopped and well combined.
  3. With the food processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil through the feed tube.
  4. Process the mixture until it forms a smooth and creamy sauce.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  6. Use the pesto sauce immediately or store it in the refrigerator with a thin layer of olive oil on top to prevent oxidation.

Notes:

You can also use walnuts or almonds instead of pine nuts for a different flavor profile.
